  • Per gram is the troy ounce price divided by 31.1035, the NIST conversion.
  • Per pennyweight (dwt) is one twentieth of a troy ounce, 1.555 grams.
  • By stamp, the price per gram is multiplied by the metal’s purity.
  • Moving averages are the simple average of the last 20 and 50 daily prices.

What does 925 mean on silver?

925 means 925 parts per thousand pure silver, or 92.5%. Under the FTC’s Jewelry Guides, a piece can be called sterling silver only if it is at least 925/1,000ths pure silver, and coin silver must be at least 900/1,000ths. 16 CFR 23.5

What does 950 mean on platinum?

950 means 950 parts per thousand pure platinum. The FTC’s Jewelry Guides allow the word platinum on its own only for pieces that are 950 parts per thousand pure platinum. A piece marked with a number, such as 900 Plat or 850 Plat, must contain at least 850 parts per thousand. 16 CFR 23.6
